The Meadow Message: September 21st (Make sure you click to vote for your favorite Spirit Wear designs)

We want all of our Wolves to be comfortable, safe, and ready to learn! Please help students come to school in clothing that is appropriate for an active elementary school day. Clothing should provide appropriate coverage, fit securely, and allow students to comfortably participate in classroom activities, recess, PE, and other parts of the school day. Clothing that is too short, see-through, excessively tight or baggy, has holes above mid-thigh, or includes inappropriate words or images should stay at home. Hats, hoods, bedroom slippers, and shoes with wheels are also not appropriate during the school day. If a student’s clothing does not meet dress code expectations, a parent or guardian may be contacted to bring a change of clothes.

We also ask that toys and special items stay at home, including stuffies, Pokémon cards, trading cards, and other collectibles. We know these items are fun and special to our students, but they can become a distraction and may be lost, traded, or damaged at school.

Our 5th graders had an incredible experience with visitors from the Metrolina Native American Association. Students had the opportunity to hear music, see traditional dancing, and listen to a story shared by their storyteller. We are so thankful for this special opportunity to learn, experience, and celebrate Native American culture!

We got to celebrate some BIG accomplishments with our 4th and 5th graders! 

🎉 We shared our incredible EOG results with the students who helped make them happen and surprised them with Kona Ice! 🍧 A huge THANK YOU to SOJO Church for providing this sweet celebration for our Wolves!

Wolf Meadow’s Trunk or Treat is October 23rd, and we need your help! We’ll be collecting bags of individually wrapped candy all month long to help make this a fun and memorable event for our students and families. Donations can be dropped off at the school throughout the month.

We also need your help spreading the word! Please share our candy donation post on Facebook with friends, family, community groups, and local businesses. Every share helps us reach someone who may be able to donate!

September is Attendance Awareness Month and Wolf Meadow plans to kick this event off for the entire year to promote great attendance for all of our students!

Did you know that in elementary school just missing 10% of the school year makes learning to read more difficult and by the 6th grade if a student has a history of attendance concerns it becomes one of the 3 main signs of potential drop out for a student in later grades.  

Wolf Meadow wants to see our students here EVERYDAY and to help parents with any obstacles that prevent that from happening.  We certainly understand children get sick and need to be home and know these absences will be excused, but our school is going to work extra hard this year to get our attendance soaring higher than ever.   

CCS has an attendance policy and it is linked below.  Please read over this and make sure you stay in contact with your child’s teacher when your student needs to be absent.  We also offer an attendance portal link for you to submit attendance absences directly from your phone or device.

To get our kids excited about being here at school we are going to be holding classroom competitions and other rewards to help promote great attendance, please help us along with this!

If you have any questions about attendance, or family needs with this please reach out to your child’s teacher, our counselors or school social worker.  We all want to help our students be here everyday! 

Our school will focus on the character strength of Perspective. This means understanding and appreciating different points of view. Perspective, often seen as wisdom, goes beyond intelligence. People with this strength are valued for their advice because they see the big picture and understand complex issues.

Those with perspective can get to the heart of difficult matters and bring clarity. They are honest, ethical, and good at seeing what truly matters. This helps them stay calm and learn from mistakes. By reflecting on their own feelings and thoughts, they can empathize with others and offer strong listening and questioning skills. They help their groups navigate challenges and find opportunities for success.
