Battle of Books

2024-2025 EBOB Information

North Carolina's Elementary Battle of the Books (EBOB) is an academic competition which encourages reading and includes a variety of literary genres. Participation is for students in grades 4 and 5. The students are expected to read 16 pre-selected books, and will practice throughout the fall & spring in preparation for the County Tournament, which takes place in the Spring. It is set up as a quiz bowl, with students being asked questions about books. Each elementary school team consists of no more than 12 fourth and fifth graders.

In order to participate in EBOB, students are required to have a parental permission slip signed and returned by October 11, 2024. Once a student makes the team, he or she will be required to read up to 5 or more books from the list. The team will be posted by the end of October. Practice will begin in November for the 12 team members on Thursdays after school until 3:15.

Once the team is determined, team members will receive a login to practice and review on their own through mybobteam

Login information will be given at the first meeting.
