Attendance for Benchmarks

As we prepare for benchmark testing on Tuesday and Wednesday, we want to remind families how important it is for students to arrive at school on time each day—and especially on testing days. When students are late or absent, they are unable to test with their class and must complete their assessments in a small-group makeup session.

These alternate sessions can sometimes cause students to feel anxious or less prepared because it isn’t the testing environment they have practiced for. To help your child do their very best, please ensure they get a good night’s rest, arrive on time, and are ready to begin their day with their classmates.

Thank you for partnering with us to support student success!

Arts and Letters Tips for Parents

Module 3 will begin for grades 2nd-5th grade on December 15th.

Our teachers and students are looking forward to starting these new units! You will find Tips for Families for each grade level attached to this message.

Benchmarks

Our 3rd-5th Grade students will be taking the Math benchmark on Tuesday, December 9th, and 5th grade will take their Science benchmark on Wednesday, December 10th.

Please remind your students to take these assessments seriously. They have learned so much over the past few months, and this is a wonderful opportunity for them to show what they know and shine!

A few simple tips to help students do their best:
  • Get a good night’s sleep the night before each test.
  • Eat a healthy breakfast to start the day with energy.
  • Arrive at school on time and ready to begin.
  • Encourage a positive mindset—they’ve worked hard and are prepared!

Thank you for your support as we help our Wolves finish the quarter strong!
Benchmark Testing Days

Congratulations!

Our 4th and 5th grade students competed in a classroom spelling bee recently!

The students pictures above all placed as their classroom winner or runner up. We are so proud of each one of these fantastic spellers!

They will compete in our school wide spelling bee on December 12th to see who will represent Wolf Meadow at the Cabarrus County Spelling Bee.

OPM: Support Others When They Struggle

This week, our school community will focus on the Other People Mindset of Supporting Others When They Struggle. This means when other people are struggling, we do our best to help them out.

Supporting other people when they struggle is a critical part of being human. There are many different approaches to helping people who are struggling. These can include listening while they describe an event and their feelings about it, taking action to help people in need, or simply being there and sitting together in silence. Everyone faces tough days and needs support, and this support leads to a chain of prosocial behavior that makes us feel good about ourselves and our group.

To practice and encourage this Other People Mindset at home, please visit The Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families (available in English and Spanish), where you will watch a video together and discuss a quote and three questions. Below are links to this week’s P2 for Families lessons. Click on the grade level that best meets your child’s needs.
